Winter in Red Lake

Well, the planes are pulled up and the lake froze on Howey bay in Red Lake on November 27. Today as I sit in the Viking Outpost office, the ice is booming as it freezes and expands. We are anxious for good cold weather before the snow falls. Then the ice will be thick and strong and we won't be struggling with slush ice all winter.
Hugh is out moose hunting, but we are classing him as an eco tourist because he is mostly exploring, have lunch by the fire and hoping not to create a lot of work by shooting something.
